PELMENI DUMPLINGS – 22 oz / 600 gr
Pelmeni are traditional Russian dumplings made from thin, unleavened dough filled with seasoned ground meat, typically a mix of beef and pork. They are boiled until they float and commonly served with sour cream, butter, or vinegar. Pelmeni are especially popular during the cold winter months.
INGREDIENTS:
Dough:
- All-purpose flour
- Salt
- Water (cold)
Filling (Traditional Beef/Pork Mix):
- Ground beef
- Ground pork
- Onions
- Garlic
- Salt
- Spices
HOW TO PREPARE:
- Boiling Method (Traditional):
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the frozen pelmeni, ensuring they don’t stick together.
- Once they float to the surface, continue boiling for 3–5 minutes until fully cooked.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and serve with your preferred toppings.
- Pan-Frying Method:
- Boil the pelmeni as above but reduce the boiling time to 5 minutes.
- Drain and let them cool slightly.
- Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the pelmeni until golden brown on both sides.
- Deep-Frying Method:
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 500°F (260°C).
- Fry the frozen pelmeni in a single layer until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove, place in a sealed container, and let them sit for 5 minutes before serving.
